> Do I have to compete with my ensembles?
Actually, we have 4 options:
- Festival style competition, with ratings, rankings, and trophies for placements in each event.
- Performance with ratings only, with ratings plaques presented.
- Performance with comments only, with participation plaque presented.
- An “Up Close and Musical” workshop option. A personalized workshop with one of our top educators, an hour and ½ in length, call for details.
|
> Do you make arrangements for our hotel and transportation?
No, our focus is on the performance event and the awards ceremony. Any travel company you choose can bring you to our festival. Call for a list of our preferred tour operators.
|
> Where will the performances take place?
Parade Bands: Because of our strong alliance with Universal Orlando, we have arranged for our Parade Bands to perform on Friday mornings in Universal Studios theme park. The crowds will line the streets of Hollywood Boulevards as you march in this “true parade” experience.
Concert bands, choirs and orchestras: Our concert venues include contemporary high school performing arts auditoriums. 45 minutes before your scheduled performance, you are escorted to 1 of 2 warm-up rooms to help maximize your preparation time.
|
> What on-stage equipment does your festival provide?
You will find chairs, stands and choir risers on stage (“show choir” platforms can be requested for a small fee). Electronic equipment and percussion instruments as outlined on our website, under the Resources Page, under Stage Plots. NO string instruments, percussion sticks or mallets will be available. Please plan accordingly.
|
> When should we plan to perform?
All parade performances are on Friday mornings.
Concert band, choir and orchestra performances are scheduled throughout the day on Saturday. As the schedule fills up, the Fridays are added. After receiving your registration fees, requests for performance times are available. Typically, we schedule the earlier times on a first come, first serve basis. If contacted early enough, we can usually fill requested times, especially with groups with multiple entries. The closer we get to your performance weekend, the harder it becomes to make changes.
|
> I have 2 concert bands. How do you classify them?
Your first group will be classified in your correct class. Your second group will drop to the next lowest class.
